This one day meeting, organised by the RSPCA, will focus on refining the use and care of fish used in research and testing. It will bring together those involved in the care, use and regulation of fish in research and testing to explore the topic of the welfare of fish used in scientific research. In particular, this meeting will focus on efforts to reduce suffering, with an emphasis on general refinements, welfare assessment, and humane endpoints. Delegates will be able to share experience and expertise and will take away practical recommendations and action points for applying refinements.
Presentation topics will include general refinements for laboratory fish species, welfare assessment, and monitoring and application of humane endpoints, with time for facilitated discussion. There will also be an opportunity to display posters that are relevant to the meeting theme.
There will be no delegate fee charged for attending, but places are limited and those with direct involvement in the care and use of fish will be prioritised. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
