Background
Launched in 2011, the CRACK IT Challenge programme spearheads the development of innovative 3Rs technologies by responding directly to the needs of end-users across the biosciences. The Challenges have delivered products and services for the improvement of scientific data, increase the predictivity of models and reduce the reliance on animals.
CRACK IT products and previous Challenges can be found on our Innovation Platform. Case studies highlighting some of our success stories are showcased in our 10 years of CRACK IT: Webinar series.
2022 Challenge launch
This webinar will launch the CRACK IT Challenge 43 – Thyroid Tox: Development of an in silico model to predict thyroid receptor mediated human endocrine disruption.
Endocrine disrupting chemicals are found in food, the environment and consumer products and can interact with endocrine related receptors such as those found in the thyroid. The full effect of these on human health and environmental species is not known. This Challenge aims to develop a quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) and molecular docking tool that reliably predicts thyroid receptor mediated human endocrine disruption.
Thyroid Tox is a Single Phase Challenge sponsored by Shell and the NC3Rs will facilitate access to expert user input on the use of the EPA ToxCast database. Further information about this Challenge can be found on the NC3Rs Innovation Platform.
The webinar will give you an opportunity to learn more about the competition, ask the Sponsors questions and find out how to submit a competitive application.
