Latest CRACK IT Challenges: funding innovative technologies with 3Rs benefits and business potential

Six teams have been awarded funding in Phase 1 of the latest NC3Rs CRACK IT Challenges competition, a challenge-led competition run in collaboration with the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK, using its Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI).

CRACK IT Challenges bring together industry, academia and SMEs to tackle current business and scientific questions that have the potential to deliver commercial benefits and reduce the reliance on animals in research.

New Solution: Comprehensive target screening by label-free cell microarray profiling to reduce animal efficacy and toxicology studies in drug discovery

Working with Retrogenix and Sheffield Hallam University, Phenotox Ltd. has developed mass spectrometry-based profiling method that can detect the binding of label-free (unmodified) chemicals to potentially thousands of targets expressed in cell microarrays.

2015 Challenges Competition is now open

The 2015 CRACK IT Challenges were launched on 10 September at a meeting in central London.

The Challenges were outlined and the Sponsors met with potential applicants and the CRACK IT Team. There are two 2015 Challenges:

InMutaGene

Each Challenge offers a research contract of up to £0.8 and £0.7 million funding respectively and up to three years to complete the Challenge deliverables
