The Experimental Design Assistant (EDA) is an online tool that helps researchers to design robust in vivo experiments. The tool provides bespoke feedback and advice to guide researchers through building a graphical representation of their study, which can be sent to collaborators, funders and journals to share their experimental design and analysis plans.

This online workshop, taking place as part of Love Methods Week, includes a demonstration that will introduce you to the features of the EDA, followed by time to design your own experiment with live guidance available from Dr Esther Pearl (NC3Rs Programme Manager for Experimental Design).

By the end of the session you will be able to use the EDA to:

  • Receive tailored feedback on your experimental plans.
  • Identify statistical analysis methods relevant to your design.
  • Determine an appropriate sample size.
  • Create a randomisation sequence.
  • Communicate your plans clearly with others, including as part of pre-registering your study plans.
Please sign up for an EDA account before attending this workshop.

Registration and certificates of attendance

Please register for the event using an institutional email address. Registrations will be reviewed in line with our terms and conditions and policy on attendance at NC3Rs events (PDF).

Registration will close 24 hours before the event: 9.00, Monday 19 January.

Certificates of attendance will be issued to all attendees who attend the full EDA demonstration (the first hour of the session). Your certificate will be issued to the email address used to register for this webinar within two weeks of the session.

This event is part of ‘Love Methods Week‘ organised by the University of Coimbra and the QUEST Center for Responsible Research at Charité Berlin Institute of Health to support scientists to share their methods and help others to reuse methods and data responsibly.
