Rigorous by design: Strengthening research that involves animals

This webinar in the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s series ‘Global dialogues on Laboratory Animal Science’ will focus on improving the quality of animal research through rigorous experimental design. Well-designed experiments are more likely to produce reliable data, reducing the number of animals wasted in studies that do not add to the scientific knowledge base.

The panel of speakers will cover general study planning, tools and resources to plan experiments alongside tips for using these in laboratories and animal facilities. Dr Esther Pearl, Experimental Design Programme Manager, will discuss resources from the NC3Rs – including the Experimental Design Assistant (EDA), the DRIVER recommendations and the ARRIVE guidelines – and how these can be used in practice to support the design and reporting of rigorous and reproducible studies.
