Board Chair vacancy
The NC3Rs is seeking a well-connected and ambitious Board Chair to help steer its work over the next three years. This is an exciting time for the NC3Rs and the Board Chair will play a pivotal role in working with its staff, Board and stakeholders to maximise the scientific, ethical and economic benefits that the 3Rs can deliver.
Nationally and internationally support for the 3Rs has gathered momentum and developments in science and technology have the potential to transform the use of animals. The UK has been at the forefront of these developments, however, there are significant barriers to adoption of the 3Rs that require changes in policy, practice and regulations and engagement with leaders across the scientific community at home and abroad to ensure sustained action and investment. Politically, animal research is a topic that is attracting increasing interest, while public support for animal use remains contingent on the 3Rs being applied.
The environment in which the NC3Rs operates is complex and dynamic and the Board Chair needs to be highly experienced in science policy and research funding. The ability to inspire and command the respect of a wide range of stakeholders is essential.
To apply for this role, please complete the application form and submit a short CV of no longer than two A4 pages by 18 May 2023.
