Dr Elliot Lilley (Programme Manager - 3Rs in Vaccine Batch Release and Quality Control Testing) will be presenting data from a survey of those who perform pyrogenicity testing and those who develop monocyte activation test (MAT) kits.
The MAT is a non-animal replacement of the rabbit pyrogen test and the survey has been designed to gain better understanding of how the MAT is currently used and validated, what specific cell types were involved and any barriers that were faced in implementing the MAT as a replacement for pyrogenicity testing.
This piece of work is part of a four year project, funded by The Gates Foundation, to support the wider integration of 3Rs approaches in biologics quality control testing to drive wider adoption of non-animal approaches.
Survey: Help us to shape the future of pyrogenicity testing of biologics
If you are involved in manufacturing or testing biologics, or developing and marketing monocyte activation test (MAT) kits or services, we would love to hear from you. The survey should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete and your responses will be used to inform our work to support the wider integration of 3Rs approaches in biologics quality control testing.
