ICURe Explore awards train, fund and support research teams to determine whether there is a market for products or services that utilise their ideas, research and technologies.

For this call, we are partnering with the BBSRC to support researchers exploit their 3Rs tools and technologies. Scientists can apply for up to £35k to step out of the lab for three months and explore the market potential of their 3Rs technologies and tools, maximising the chances of commercial success and 3Rs impact of their work. The programme consists of a bootcamp with commercialisation experts, individual mentoring with experienced research commercialisation mentors, the chance to engage with potential customers, regulators and supply chains and the opportunity to build networks among budding 3Rs entrepreneurs.

This webinar is aimed at eligible potential applicants and will give you an opportunity to learn more about the competition and what the assessors are looking for, and to hear from previous recipients of ICURe Explore funding that have successfully commercialised their research outputs.

More information about this opportunity is available on our funding pages.

Agenda

  • Introduction to BBSRC-NC3Rs ICURe Explore (BBSRC).
  • How to write a good application (The Helix Way and Innovate UK).
  • The 3Rs: An overview and how to write about them (NC3Rs).
  • Panel discussion: ICURe graduates share their experiences and insights: Dr Abigail Martin (ImmuONE) and Dr John Curd (PeptiMatrix).
  • Q&A with the speakers.

Background

ICURe is the UK’s leading programme that supports scientists to explore at an early stage the commercial potential of their research. ICURe guides participants through the commercialisation process from ideation to spinning-out. This joint call from BBSRC and NC3Rs builds on a strong track record of collaboration between our organisations, including a recent commitment (together with UKRI) of £4.7M in 24 research projects to develop and apply the next generation of non-animal technologies.

The webinar is free to attend, but registration is essential: Launch webinar: BBSRC-NC3Rs ICURe Explore.
