Applying for NC3Rs funding

Get up-to-date information on our funding schemes and guidance on putting together a competitive application that supplements the guidance available online. 

Summary

When applying to any NC3Rs funding opportunity you need to demonstrate excellent science as well as a great potential 3Rs impact. Getting this balance right and communicating it effectively can be a challenge, so we have online resources to help with this. 

This workshop expands on these materials to present our current funding schemes and information on how to submit the most competitive application possible. This includes advice on writing about 3Rs impacts, calculating 3Rs metrics and leaving a 3Rs legacy.

  • Format: Seminar. 
  • Length: One hour. 

Objectives

  • Be aware of the current NC3Rs funding schemes. 
  • Understand the application process for each scheme. 
  • Understand the elements required for a competitive application to the NC3Rs. 
  • Be aware of the further resources available to support you in writing your application for NC3Rs funding.  

Audience

This workshop is intended for those who are considering applying to one of the funding opportunities from the NC3Rs in the near future. These maybe established or early career researchers. 

Format

This material is typically delivered as a one-hour talk which allows for an extended period for questions from the audience. This is equally suited to online or in-person delivery. 

We can also offer a shorter talk (15 - 20 min) as part of a larger event highlighting current funding schemes and giving brief application guidance. 

What we need from you

  • For in-person delivery, a space with appropriate audio-visual set-up such as a lecture theatre or seminar room. 
  • For online delivery, a list of attendees with institutional email addresses. 
  • A minimum of 15 attendees.

What we will provide

  • A member of staff with expertise in our funding schemes to deliver the talk and answer any queries. 
  • A pdf copy of the slides after the event for dissemination to attendees. 
  • The member of staff that delivered the talk will also be contactable via email for further follow-up.
