Minimising and improving animal use in the next decade
“Our Vision: 2015-2025” sets out the NC3Rs vision for the next ten years, in five inter-related areas; Practice, Procedures, People, Places and Policy. The publication is now available to view and download.
Currently celebrating our tenth year, we see this milestone as an opportunity to look to the future. In the decade since the organisation’s establishment, much has changed. There is both wider awareness of, and greater support for, the 3Rs. However, there is still more to do in the promotion and implementation of the 3Rs principles.
The publication, which was launched at an event in London attended by key stakeholders and collaborators, was developed following discussions with key opinion formers from across the scientific community.
In the spring next year, we plan to publish a strategy outlining our next steps towards making the vision a reality.
Chief Executive of the NC3Rs, Vicky Robinson, said: “We are really proud of the progress that the NC3Rs has made over the last ten years. Our connections across the scientific community have helped inform how we shape our future vision, and will be essential as we continue to drive changes in animal use and deliver measurable impacts in the 3Rs.
As well as providing a useful basis on which to build our on-going strategy, we hope that others will use the document as a framework to guide their own research and to enhance their institution’s approach to implementing the 3Rs.”
