The NC3Rs signs an MOU with the UK’s Animals in Science Regulatory Unit

The NC3Rs remit includes supporting both the development and uptake of 3Rs approaches.

This requires extensive collaboration and partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders across the scientific community. Bridging the gap between development and uptake, the so-called “3Rs valley of death”, is a major challenge and a key focus of our current strategy.

Ensuring end-users from scientists to regulators are kept abreast of the latest 3Rs opportunities is an important part of tackling the valley of death. To help with this we have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the UK’s Animals in Science Regulatory Unit (ASRU) which formalises our relationship with them. The MOU sets out high level principles such as ASRU including information on 3Rs advances from the NC3Rs in its guidance notes and policy statements as well as the NC3Rs contributing to Inspector training in the 3Rs.
