The DRIVER recommendations

A practical framework to improve the quality of in vitro research

A scientist carefully fills well plates with a red liquid.

Developed by an international working group of experts, the DRIVER recommendations set out six items – the core principles that support researchers design high-quality in vitro studies and report them transparently. The recommendations also include the essential information required by reviewers and editors to assess the methodological rigour, reliability and reproducibility of the work.

Each item of the DRIVER recommendations has a dedicated page featuring:

  • Design and reporting guidance: Concise advice for applying best practice during experimental planning and manuscript preparation.
  • Interactive examples: Engaging content that explores key concepts in more depth, with worked examples and opportunities to test your understanding.
