The first webinar in The Swedish 3Rs Center's 'Replace' webinar series focuses on brain-on-a-chip and brain organoids.
Speakers
Anna Herland – Professor in Nanobiotechnology at SciLifelab at KTH Royal Institute of Technology
Anna's research focuses on developing stem cell-based organ-on-chip models to replicate human tissue environments of the brain. Her team creates patient-specific in vitro models that closely mimic in vivo biological functions.
Robin Pronk – Co-founder and CSO of BrainZell
Robin leads the development of advanced human brain organoid platforms to accelerate drug discovery, improve translational accuracy and safety of the new treatments.
About the webinar series
The 'Replace' webinars organised by The Swedish 3Rs Center highlight human-based models for better research and drug discovery, with a focus on organ-on-chip, organoids, predictive in vitro models and computational in silico approaches.
The series features speakers from academia, academic-industry collaborations and start ups. Scientists from across sectors and fields of research are welcome and early career researchers, including postdoctoral and doctoral students, are particularly encouraged to attend.
Other webinars
- Human in vitro intestinal models: 27 November.
- Human metabolism – Combining in vitro and in silico models: 4 December.
- Human in vitro oral cavity and liver models: 11 December.
The Swedish 3Rs Center is part of The Togeth3R Consortium, a group of eight 3Rs centres from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
