11.00 – 12.00 (GMT)/12.00 – 13.00 (CET)

The final webinar in The Swedish 3Rs Center's 'Replace' webinar series focuses on bioengineering of human tissues, including oral-cancer-on-chip and liver-on-chip.

Speakers

Pierfrancesco Pagella – Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Linköping University

Pierfrancesco's research focuses on generating bio-engineered 3D human organs and exploring mechanisms behind organ and cell diversity. His main research models are teeth, cancers of the oral cavity and trigeminal innervation.

Caroline Beck Adiels – Associate Professor at the Department of Physics at Göteborg University

Caroline's research focuses on microfluidics-based technology for biological and life science-oriented applications and development of organ-on-chip technology for tissue formation and downstream drug screening processes. She uses long-term microscopy and AI to extract maximum information from cell cultures.

About the webinar series

The 'Replace' webinars organised by The Swedish 3Rs Center highlight human-based models for better research and drug discovery, with a focus on organ-on-chip, organoids, predictive in vitro models and computational in silico approaches.

The series features speakers from academia, academic-industry collaborations and start ups. Scientists from across sectors and fields of research are welcome and early career researchers, including postdoctoral and doctoral students, are particularly encouraged to attend.

Other webinars

The Swedish 3Rs Center is part of The Togeth3R Consortium, a group of eight 3Rs centres from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
