Latest news from the NC3Rs: January 2026
2026 has continued where 2025 left off with a focus on alternatives to animal use in research and testing. At the beginning of the month the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology published a research briefing on this topic highlighting the opportunities and challenges. We were pleased to have the opportunity to provide evidence and contributions to the POSTnote given our expertise and long-standing programmes in this area working with researchers and organisations across the sector. As the conference seasons begins, if you are interested in driving adoption of animal-free, exposure-driven approaches in UK chemical regulation and are attending the British Toxicology Society (BTS) Annual Congress in April, register your interest in a workshop from the BTS and SETAC UK, co-organised by Dr Natalie Burden, NC3Rs Head of NAMs Strategy – the expression of interest form closes on Friday 30 January.
