This workshop held in collaboration between the British Toxicology Society (BTS) and the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) UK and is co-organised by Natalie Burden, NC3Rs Head of New Approach Methodologies Strategy. It will bring together experts from academia, government and industry to explore how modern exposure science and innovative assessment frameworks can help shape a more protective and forward-looking UK regulatory system for environmental safety assessment.

Following presentations from three expert speakers, group breakout discussions will focus on key challenges and opportunities. Delegates have the opportunity to present posters on relevant work.

Opening presentations

  • UK progress towards non-animal research and testing: The Government's alternative methods strategy.
Anthony Holmes, NC3Rs Director of Science and Technology/Office for Life Sciences (secondee).
  • The evolving role of environmental chemical safety assessment: From observation to prediction.
    Luigi Margiotta-Casaluci, King’s College London.
  • Next generation environmental exposure modelling: Bridging science and regulation.
Sam Harrison, UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (UK-CEH).
