The third webinar in The Swedish 3Rs Center's 'Replace' webinar series focuses on combining on-chip data and computational modelling to predict clinical outcomes in drug development.
Speakers
Liisa Vilén – Director of Microphysiological Systems team at AstraZeneca
Liisa's team uses organ-on-chip technology to study cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases and to advance the development of future treatments.
Oscar Silfvergren – Industrial doctoral student at SUND sound medical decisions and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Linköping University
Oscar's work is focuses on developing computational models to understand organ-on-chip metabolism and translate that metabolism to humans.
About the webinar series
The 'Replace' webinars organised by The Swedish 3Rs Center highlight human-based models for better research and drug discovery, with a focus on organ-on-chip, organoids, predictive in vitro models and computational in silico approaches.
The series features speakers from academia, academic-industry collaborations and start ups. Scientists from across sectors and fields of research are welcome and early career researchers, including postdoctoral and doctoral students, are particularly encouraged to attend.
Other webinars
- Human in vitro brain models: 20 November.
- Human in vitro intestinal models: 27 November.
- Human in vitro oral cavity and liver models: 11 December.
The Swedish 3Rs Center is part of The Togeth3R Consortium, a group of eight 3Rs centres from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
